About this tool

Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) means investing the same amount of money at regular intervals β€” for example $100 every month β€” instead of investing everything at once. When prices are low you automatically buy more coins, and when prices are high you buy fewer. This calculator shows your total invested, how many coins you would hold, your average cost per coin and your current profit or loss.

DCA does not guarantee a profit. If the price keeps falling, regular buying still loses money. The value of DCA is that it removes the need to guess the perfect time to buy.

Formula

Total invested = Amount per purchase Γ— Number of purchases. Coins held = Ξ£ (Amount Γ· Price at each purchase). Average cost = Total invested Γ· Coins held.

  2. Enter your average purchase price, or paste a list of purchase prices.
  3. Enter the current price β€” or use the live price for Bitcoin or Ethereum.
  4. Read your total invested, coins held, average cost and current value.

Frequently asked questions

What is dollar-cost averaging?

Investing a fixed amount at regular intervals, whatever the price, instead of trying to time the market.

Does DCA guarantee a profit?

No. It can reduce the impact of short-term price swings, but you can still lose money if prices fall overall.

Can I use a list of real purchase prices?

Yes. Paste your purchase prices separated by commas and the calculator uses each one.
